Wedding Checklist

For your wedding, there are standard tasks to complete to ensure you get married. Every wedding is different and almost every couple have their own specific requirements. 

If you register on our site, we have the below items in the Checklist Tool where you can customise your wedding date, which will change the duration to complete the tasks and you can also edit, add or remove tasks altogether if they are not relevant to you and your wedding. We've even had one couple tell us they were able to plan their entire wedding in just 24 hours, using our checklist tool!

Below is a list of standard tasks to complete and the approximate time away from your wedding date to do these and the list is based on having 12 months to plan your big day. Please note that particularly due to COVID, it might take longer to get your dream wedding venue booked, due to built up demand caused by all the postponements over the last couple of years. 

12 Months+

• Speak with your partner about the type of wedding you both would like

11 Months

• Decide if you want a theme for your wedding
• Consider bridal party dresses
• Reserve your chosen venue(s) for the ceremony and reception
• Book your officiant (priest, minister etc)

8 Months

• Find accommodation options for out of town guests

6 Months

5 Months

• Attend pre-marriage counselling if required (for Catholic Ceremonies)
• Consider booking vaccinations for honeymoon
• Finalize Wedding Guest List

4 Months

• Schedule Dress Fittings
• Book Room for Wedding Night if not provided with reception venue

3 Months

• Choose first dance song (and any songs in particular that you do or don’t want played at the wedding)

2 Months

• Book hair and veil trials

1 Month

• Plan ceremony and reception seating
• Begin Writing Vows
• Review Ceremony details with officiant
• Apply for Marriage License
• Finalise fittings for wedding party
• Decide on “something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue”.

2 Weeks

• Call vendors to confirm details, date, times and location
• Confirm honeymoon reservations
• Pick up wedding rings
• Pick up Marriage License
• Final Dress Fitting
• Finalise / Order / Print your Order of Ceremony
• Finalise Table Plan / Send a copy to your stationer

1 Week

• Follow up on the guests who have not RSVP’d
• Give final count to caterer
• Contact Videographer and Photographer with “Must Have” shots
• Update Gift List / Registries
• Begin breaking in your wedding shoes
• Send playlists to DJ/Band/ceremony
• Write out place cards / Send to stationer
• Pack for Honeymoon
