Mairi & Graeme - A Covid Wedding Story

A CORONAVIRUS WEDDING STORY - Date of Story - 19th November 2020

We thought it was time to share another Coronavirus Wedding Story - this time it’s from Mairi & Graeme...congratulations!

“When lockdown was 1st announced, we didn't understand the concern people had for our wedding - we had months to go & thought all would be ok by August but as time went on, we began to realise that ours would be affected too!

It broke our hearts when we had to re-arrange. August 8th was a special date for us, as both sets of parents celebrate their anniversary on this date! When Graeme proposed, we were quick to book!

As our original date approached, restrictions began to ease.
Our celebrant got in touch & informed us that we could possibly get married in a small garden ceremony - on our original date!

So as quickly as we could, we registered our wedding & had a new venue - Graeme's family garden!

With restrictions on guests, we had to keep it to close family. My brother & his family were able to travel up from Liverpool for the day but all the guests we had hoped to invite, were not able to be there in person - so we shared a web link for everyone to watch on Zoom!

When our day arrived, the sun was shining & Graeme surprised us with a beautiful Beaufort wedding car!
When I arrived on his street, I was greeted by a Piper & the neighbours were all out to view from a safe distance too!
Walking into the garden, I didn't recognise it as his family garden, it was our wedding venue!

The ceremony was perfect!
Afterwards, we posed for photos & then spent time relaxing in the garden with our families! We ordered a chippie from our local takeaway (which was delicious) & our wedding carrot cake, which mum made for us, was enjoyed by everyone.

Although we weren't able to have our wedding at our original wedding venue, we were able to book an overnight stay in the honeymoon suite!

It wasn't the day we originally planned but it was beyond perfect! We are so happy we opted for our small garden wedding!
I still can't believe we managed to pull it off at such short notice, but we did & are now loving life, as husband & wife. ♥️
